Diversity in the workplace is often a numbers game. In fact, a diverse workforce can only be creative and productive if it exists in a truly inclusive environment where there is psychological safety. I believe that inclusion is a state of being and a core value. If there is insufficient connection and respect in your company culture, posters and policies imposed from above will not bring change. First, every individual has to look inside themselves. We have much work to do. I facilitate this work.
In addition to coaching, I use Team Elements coaching and the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) as tools to help participants discover what they really need to work on and where they lie on a spectrum of intercultural competence. These tools give birth to conversations never had before.
